COVID-19 RESPONSE & INFORMATION
In addition to our Fairmount Window opening, the Davenport Public Library has scheduled Curbside Pickup available at Main (321 Main) and Eastern (6000 Eastern Avenue) for limited hours beginning on Tuesday, May 26th from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Curbside will be available Monday- Friday 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm for hold pick-ups only.
Curbside pickup will be a contactless pickup. Please park in the designated spot and call or text the number on the sign to alert the staff of your arrival. Staff will then place your items on a table – please wait until staff has moved at least 6 feet away from the table before exiting your vehicle to collect items. If you are unable to exit your vehicle, please alert staff when you call or text us upon your arrival so that we can make alternate arrangements.
The Davenport Library will be accepting returns at this time but they must be placed in our outdoor book drops. All returned items will be quarantined for 72 hours and then those that can be sanitized will be and then checked in. Although we are taking as many steps as possible to keep our patrons safe, we cannot guarantee that our items are virus-free.
Statement on Phased Reopening Plans
As you may know, Iowa’s governor made a statement this week allowing restaurants and libraries to reopen. In order to protect you and our staff, the Library is planning a phased reopening.
We will begin this process by reopening our Fairmount Drive-Up Window beginning Monday, May 18th from 1:00 pm -5:00 pm. Holds will be available for pick up at the window Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm -5:00 pm.
Our next steps will be to offer Curbside Pickup at Main and Eastern starting on a date to be determined, please stay tuned for more details to come.

Update 5/14/2020: Due Dates on all materials have been extended to June 15th. Library card expiration dates have been extended to June 30th.
Update 5/13/2020: The Davenport Public Library has tentatively scheduled the reopening of the Fairmount drive-up window for Monday, May 18th, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. The reopening depends on the supply and availability of personal protective equipment and supplies to ensure the safety of staff and the public.
For your safety and ours, we ask that you follow these procedures when using the Fairmount drive-up window:
1. Press buzzer to alert staff that you are waiting
2. Place your library card with the barcode facing up on the ledge and close your vehicle window
3. Staff will scan your card, check out your items, sit them on the ledge, and close the window
4. You may open your vehicle window to collect your items and card
If you have questions for our staff during this interaction, we request that you use a face-covering before opening your window. If you do not have a face covering, a phone number will be provided so that you can call staff with your question. No returns will be accepted at the window.
Update 4/6/2020: Due to new public health guidelines issued by Gov. Reynold's office, the Fairmount St drive-up window will close Monday, April 6th at 5:30 pm until further notice.
Update 3/24/2020: All branches of the Davenport Public Library are closed until further notice.
Update 3/17/2020: Items from ALL RiverShare libraries (Davenport PL, Bettendorf PL, Clinton PL, Clinton Community College, LeClaire Community Library, Muscatine Community College, Scott Community College, and Scott County Library) will not be due until MONDAY, MAY 18TH, 2020. Library cards set to expire before that date will be extended to May 18th as well.
Update 3/16/2020: The City of Davenport is closely monitoring the ramifications of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). In order to evaluate our community’s health condition, the City has joined the Quad Cities COVID-19 Coalition. The Coalition, which is made up of area health, business, government, and emergency management officials, is meeting regularly to review the most current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and state and local authorities in order to make proactive adjustments to our preparedness and response plan. At the Davenport Public Library, we hold tight to our mission to connect a diverse community to resources that inform, enrich, educate, and entertain. During the coming days, Library and city staff will continue to work toward providing as many services as possible while observing health and safety recommendations of local authorities.
Effective March 16, 2020, at 8:00 p.m. the Library will be closed until further notice
