Fines for Overdue Materials

Davenport Public Library materials not returned or renewed by the end of the loan period are considered overdue and subject to a fine of $0.10 per item per day, to a maximum fine of $5 per item. $1.00 per day fines for Community Experience Passes, mobile hotspots, guitars, ukuleles, and Techknow Library items. Fines can be paid online.

As of April 8th, 2019 all Juvenile Materials are fine free. Juvenile items are materials that are geared towards children 12 years or younger and are identified at Davenport Public Library under the call number prefix “j”. Patrons are still responsible for any lost and/or unreturned items and will be subject to the billing process.

Overdue Notice

You can receive library notifications by email, text or phone. To update your notification preference, click here to log into your account (your password is the last 4 digits of your phone number) and choose Contact Information and Preference.

Replacement Bill

Approximately four weeks after the item is due, a bill notice is sent listing the replacement cost of the overdue item. If the item is returned to the Library, the borrower is responsible ONLY for the overdue fines, not for the replacement. If the item is not returned and the bill still outstanding after the item is overdue for 8 weeks, the delinquent account may be turned over to a collection agency.
