A library card is free and lets you:

• Visit other libraries in Iowa and Illinois

Who Can Get a Card?

• People who live in Davenport
• People who own property in Davenport but live outside the city
• Kids under 14 (a parent or guardian must sign the form)

How to Get a Card

• Apply online or visit any library location
• Bring an ID that shows your name and address
  • Many types of identification that include current address are acceptable, including the following:
    • Iowa Driver's License
    • Iowa State ID
    • Voter Registration Card
    • Imprinted checks
    • Pre-printed lease agreement
    • First Class mail in an envelope postmarked within the last 30 days, along with an ID that verifies name
    • Vehicle Registration Card
    • Payroll stub within the last 30 days that includes full name and address
    • Emailed utility bill on mobile phone from within the last 30 days that includes full name and address
• Kids need a parent or guardian with ID to sign for the card

Other Cards

• Business/Educator Card: If you work in Davenport, you might get a card through your job
• Nonresident Card: If you live in certain towns or are visiting, you can use your hometown card
• Computer Use Card: Just want to use the computers? Bring your ID to get a special card

• 1 Week: Movies, music, games, magazines, passes, hotspots, board games

• 6 Weeks: Book club sets, story time in a box sets

Borrow by Mail

Can’t come to The Library? We’ll mail items to you for free! Just return them to The Library or a Hy-Vee book drop on Kimberly.

Returning Items

Return items to any library or book drop, including Hy-Vee stores on Kimberly Road.

Renewing Items

Most items are automatically renewed twice—unless someone else is waiting.
Renew online, by phone, or in person.

Changes to Your Library Cards

If your card is lost or stolen, let us know immediately. Let us know when there is a change in your name, address, or phone number. If you're moving away from Davenport and wish to cancel your card, call or email us at customerservice@davenportlibrary.com.
